As an end of the summer treat, our family headed to the big city over the weekend to see the sights and hang out with everybody's favorite uncle and his trusty side-kick! We arrived on Thursday evening and had dinner at TGIFridays, then we stopped by Target (couldn't resist!), and found our hotel about 10 minutes north of Atlanta. The kids were literally in awe as we drove into the city at night! The whole weekend, Benji kept asking to see his "new see-dee (city)" and we figured out that he meant he wanted to see the skyscrapers! On Friday, we spent our morning at the High Museum of Art. I admit, this was mostly for me, but everyone else seemed to enjoy it most of the time. They have a really neat permanent collection of American folk art and a temporary exhibit of Monet's Water Lilies. There was even a "hands-on" room designed for kids! At lunchtime, we found Souper Jenny's and enjoyed their delicious food and fun atmosphere.

Then, we got cleaned up and went to the Gwinnett Braves (AAA baseball) game to meet Uncle Keith & Kristi. Unfortunately, the Braves lost, but we did see a player from Louisville hit a homerun! You can see how excited Clara and Benji were to hang out with these super cool people. :)

And, part two will be coming soon...

That sounds really fun! I'm glad good 'ol Mommy got to choose a place to visit, especially since I know you've always liked Monet. The kids (especially Ben's) expressions in the pictures are priceless!
That sounds like a great museum! Not many art museums have a hands on space. The name cracks me up though--"High museum of Art" sounds so pretentious. I hope it is named after someone named High and not just trying to sound fancy!
