Wrapping Up Summer

It is getting a lot cooler and more fall-like here in Indiana. Andy and I love the fall/autumn time of year because there are always so many fun activities going on! He enjoys the cooler temperatures...me, not so much. Here are a couple of recent pictures of the girls, enjoying the sunny days while they can. It's pretty windy most of the time around here, but that shouldn't surprise anyone who has ever been to our house!

Hannah is riding her new, tiny, electric 4 wheeler. It goes 3 miles per hour and both of the girls just love it. We found a great deal on this (used but like new) and couldn't pass it up since the girls both love to ride the big 4 wheeler with Andy as often as possible. By the way, those are her keys on the ground, to the right. She won't be going far without them since she definitely thinks they start up the engine. Hannah is keeping us all entertained with her quickly expanding vocabulary and very quick wit. Lately she has spoken several complete sentences and she usually knows exactly what is going on, no pulling anything over on this kid! The funniest thing she's told me lately was over the weekend. She came in the house and said "Mama, me play Papaw's dog dog!!" Andy and his dad had been playing with the dog and she was so thrilled that she had to tell me all about it. It's also pretty funny to hear her sing "quack, quack, quack" in the backseat when "Six Little Ducks" plays in the car. Sweetest of all, she loves to hold Abby's hand when they're riding in the car!

Abigail has gotten really good at riding her bike, and really fast, too! She moves it from the porch to the sidewalk to the garage and sometimes the driveway, but gravel is pretty tough when your wheels are plastic! Her recent endeavors are learning the days of the week, beginning the concepts of telling time, cutting and pasting actual shapes, writing lowercase and capital letters and helping to set the table. She is growing up so fast! Andy and I both commented on how grown up she looked this afternoon. I guess sometimes it just hits you all at once that this little person is only four years old and she has already learned so much.
We recently bought new shoes and for the first time she needed different sizes for right and left in both dress shoes and tennis shoes. But, Andy and I are very happy with the fit of both. The process of shoe shopping while making sure two sizes are in stock, the fit is good, etc, is tedious to say the least. On the other hand, Hannah has plenty of shoes to grow into!
Last week was Watch Day at Style Dance Academy but because I'm without a reliable camera right now, I'll get some pictures from Dad the next time I can. Dance was quite different this year, there is much more structure and the kids actually seem to stay fairly on task! Also, a few of the girls in Abigail's class were in her class last year, so it's fun to see each of them progress.
This past Sunday we went to Moscow Christian Church with Aunt Evelyn. You may remember reading here about the destruction of the Moscow covered bridge in June 2008. A tornado swept through the very small town and there was widespread damage. The church is where Andy and his family attended when he was a small child, so there are lots of memories there for him. This coming Sunday, they will be dedicating the renovated building and since we won't be able to be there, we made the trip this week to see the improvements. It was very nice and always fun to visit with Aunt Evelyn.
So the calendar keeps turning and as fall progresses there are plenty of updates to come. This weekend we'll be going camping with our church group and next week will be Homecoming plus we have some fun visits coming up so stay tuned for more!

We can't wait to see those cute girls!!! And you guys, of course. :) They are doing such neat things and growing up in their own ways. Maybe they'll give us some driving demos when we visit!
