Winter Happenings

Way back, before Christmas, Polk gave Abigail and Hannah some adorable Christmas outfits. They've worn them over and over and gotten so much joy out of wearing the hand knit skirts that Polk made them. Everywhere they wear them we get compliments! Hannah was happy to model for me.
Later, on Martin Luther King day, Polk and I took the girls to Columbus, IN to play at Kids Commons. It's a perfect way to spend a winter morning when the weather is way too cold to play outside. Abigail and Hannah first wanted to show me the giant toilet slide! Hannah even went down it by herself for the very first time, and several times after that.
We played at the giant bubble station:
The girls exercised in the area that teaches about human motion and activity:
Built a few things out of magnets while watching an older girl climb the indoor climbing wall:
Climbed in and out of the camper:
Watered the pretend garden:
And finished up our morning by making paper peace doves in honor of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and his mission to promote peace and equality:
Not long after that fun morning, Abigail's kindergarten class celebrated the 100th day of school with each child bringing in 100 of any object. Abigail chose to bring in 100 rocks from the woods across the road from our house:
Next this winter, we began the work of rearranging the house to make room for our newest family member. The plan is for Andy and I to eventually move downstairs to the room that has previously been a den/playroom/office. In that room though, there isn't much closet space. So, construction has begun on a new walk in closet. Here's a view of what it used to look like:
The finished product won't be ready for at least a week or so, stay tuned!
With the baby coming soon, I'm making an effort to have some special fun times with the girls. Especially including trips to places where I won't want to take a newborn. So, today was a day off from school and work and we played at Bounce Spot for a couple of hours this morning. The girls had a ball! Occasionally they were intimidated by some wild and crazy kids, but all in all they had a great time.

The countdown is on, our new little guy will be here in less than ten weeks! The winter has been busy enough but also there have been plenty of days of being home, cleaning out, organizing, playing at home and "nesting" which Andy has teased me plenty about. It helps, we're all feeling pretty prepared!

Never a dull moment around there, even in the winter. Love the rocks as the 100 object choice. Did Bridges Landscaping and Construction bid that project?
