As you may have heard, Andy is now self employed and loving it! His business, Bridges Concrete & Landscape Construction, is underway and I am SO proud of him! This has taken months of planning, networking with other contractors, learning new skills and a big leap of faith. Since quitting his job at the Johnson County Highway Dept, Andy has been busy. He's pouring concrete, building new landscape features and learning all about waiting out the weather. Andy is happier and more fulfilled already. We are praying for continued success!

We've added a new pony to the pasture! Scout is a patient, calm guy who is around 15 years old. In his former home he gave pony rides at birthday parties and community festivals. Roxanne (the first pony we bought) has been eating well and has found her spunk, you might say. She may stick around and may not but at this point, she's just not trustworthy alone with the kids. Stay tuned on that one. Scout is most definitely a keeper! Above, Abigail's first trail ride.
A couple of weeks ago, cousins Jacob (6) and Mckenzie (almost 10) came to spend the night. We had a ball!
The garden this week! Broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage are looking great. Potatoes, spinach and kale are up. Sweet corn and green beans are beginning to sprout and we have a very healthy crop of volunteer sunflowers in the middle of what should be the asparagus!
The peonies are blooming!!
Abigail loves to pick all of the flowers in the yard, even the clover. Clover must also go in a vase. I haven't told her yet that it's a weed!

The girls love exploring the yard this time of year. It seems like they are outside every possible moment!
Playing in the buttercups on Mother's Day! The girls picked me a bouquet and rolled around in the buttercups. We also planted some annuals and had a wonderful day!
Here are some more pictures of Scout. The girls are having a lot of fun with him, already. Hannah goes with Andy every morning to let the ponies out of the barn, and every evening to put them up and feed them. Abigail puts the feed in a bucket for them. The girls also both help feed the dogs and they can feed the cats all by themselves. If we're going to have all these animals, everyone has to pitch in!
Above, Hannah is wearing her "works boots" which she wears everyday lately. With all the rain we've been getting, I guess that works out better than the flip flops Abbs is in love with. Both girls, but especially Abigail, are very fashion concious these days. Don't think that means they're always in style, but they definitely have their own opinions on what to wear! Abigail and I have different opinions on matching but other than making sure she won't freeze all day (since she loves shorts and tank tops) I pretty much let her creative juices flow.
And yes, Scout stands unattended. Perfect for the job he will do. What a great buddy for the girls!

Scout looks great! We always like reading the updates from "The Bridges Farm."
This reminds me to speak to Mitch Daniels about the horse tax stimulus plan. Anyway, the girls look like they've grown a lot since Christmas, especially Abby. I can't wait to meet Scout, and for you to find a new home for Roxanne.
Since I was just at the Bridges ranch last night, I can verify the garden really does look that good, yes the girls have really grown, Scout is adorable, Andy's business is going great and Ruthie is the driving force behind all of it!!!!!
