Happy Birthday Pops!

On August 16th, Pops turned 65! So, we celebrated with a quick birthday supper, before it was time to head off for Abigail's first tap dance class. The birthday boy requested pan fried chicken and German Chocolate cake. By last count, this is something like the 45th time Polk (mom) has made this cake for him. Anyone who has tried it can understand why. To. Die. For. For those watching what they eat, don't ask for the recipe, you'll regret knowing just how fattening it is!

Supper was delicious and Pops loved the cards, many facebook wishes and gifts. He had a cool money counting jar, socks that read Coach (worn with sandals) and some golf balls and tees. "What more could a 65 year old redhead want?" Raise your hand if you can hear him asking the world that question aloud. I thought so. Me too! He's predictable, sometimes a suspect for the fashion police and in terms of volume, only Hannah might match him someday. But, he's our Pops and we love him! It was really fun to be able to celebrate with him this year, albeit briefly on a Monday evening.
Below is a video of Happy Birthday, complete with two jubilant little girls who were each positive that SHE was responsible for blowing out the candles ;-)
