Our Summer in the Sun

Summer is officially winding to a close which seems odd since today's heat index was 106 degrees--it won't feel like fall until mid to late October. Let's just say we're very thankful for central air conditioning! Despite the heat, we have actually spent a good deal of time outside this summer. Both kids have developed a fondness for the water--any type: pool, lake, sprinkler, etc. So, we've made time to literally soak it up! Here they are in our backyard blow-up pool which may now be fully depreciated after 3 summers of use. It's also been fun for us to host some friends for pool and sandbox playtime.

Clara enjoyed being part of the youth group in our church this summer (begins at 1st grade and goes through high school and is split into two groups). She went on several outings (skating, bowling, boating) and attended the meetings on Wednesday evenings. Both Clara and Benji played ball and had a great time!

Andy and I have also had fun swimming and playing with the kids outside. Though, we continue to enjoy playing our instruments inside! Andy's learned a few new songs and techniques on his banjo and I got to play for the USA International Ballet Competition in June. Now we're gearing up for one last trip to Indiana before our fall schedule starts!

If only Ben could post, the rest of the blog's readers could read a detailed description of you all going off the diving board, like I heard on Sunday. At least you found a way to beat the brutal heat and humidity.
