Fall colors in Helen, Ga.

Fall has arrived in the Upstate of South Carolina and Northeast Georgia and the fall colors are at their peak. So why not take a trip to the north Georgia mountains to enjoy the majestic views and sights? That's what Kristi and I were thinking on Sunday.

So we visited Helen, Ga., a Bavarian tourist spot that has everything from horse drawn carriages, to trinket shops, to putt-putt, to traditional Bavarian food. The most popular time to visit Helen is for Oktoberfest.

On our stop, we walked through Uni Coi State Park, which had beautiful bright sunlight which bounced off the water and through the trees with the leaves sparkling on the ground. Feeling like we were on vacation, we took advantage of several treats: a caramel apple, a giant pretzel with butter, and a funnel cake with Whip cream and strawberries.

Looks like fun! I hope you're prepared to give leaf angel lessons to the girls sometime :-)

and the boy, although he likes being tossed around so much, he may just like to be immersed in leaf piles! I think that funnel cake looks incredible--way better than the traditional plain variety.
