Thanks to everyone for the good wishes and gifts sent for Benji's birthday! We had a nice weekend enjoying our little guy (who is not so little anymore!) and all the things he likes to do. On Friday, June 5, we took a trip to the Memphis Fire Museum as a birthday outing. Benjamin loves fire trucks (really trucks of any kind, but especially ones that make noise), so this seemed like an appropriate activity for him! He liked seeing the old trucks and getting to try them out himself. We even saw some that were driven by horses! We read about some historic fires in the Memphis area and how they were fought. It was a great day! On Sunday, June 7 (his actual birthday) he stood on the pew in church while the congregation sang to him (!), then enjoyed his requested lunch--cheese pizza--after church with some friends. All week long, he anticipated making and eating his firetruck cake!

We should have seen this fire truck stuff coming with his uncle's love of garbage trucks and police cars. Got any of that cake left to bring to the lake? =)
Looks like a great birthday! That museum looks so neat. Lydia had a firetruck party when she turned 3. I think your cake is cooler!
That Benji is one cute fireman! And his sister, too. What a clever and thoughtful way to celebrate! His Grampa Halsey is at this moment finishing up another vehicle for him to ride on his next visit to the farm---the homemade VW!
For the record, we sing for anyone whose birthday falls on a Sunday. Grownups, however, do not have to stand on the pew.
What a cool birthday outing! I just can't believe he's three already, it seems like it wasn't that long ago you all were moving to Charleston with you newborn.
Happy belated birthday Benjamin! Can't believe he's 3 already. Awesome cake! Last year for Liam's birthday I made a cake from a box and stuck some cardboard cut-outs of Scooby-Doo on there. Lame! You rock! I bet he had a blast.
