Clara's 6th Birthday

Last Thursday, Clara turned six! She is growing up in every way. She is such a joy to us! We had a special birthday dinner for her that night and she opened all of the "out-of-town" presents. Thank you everyone! Here she is on Thursday before Andy took her to the China Cabinet (Charleston's cute, little lunch spot) for a lunch date.

Clara asked if we could have a "clown" party for her birthday & thanks to the internet, I found lots of "clown" games, favors and even directions on how to make a clown cake! Here are the kids competing in a peanut relay race (they're holding plastic spoons with peanuts on them that they transfer to their teammates' spoons):
(Check out that awesome floor! Andy worked so hard to take up the carpet & stain the concrete!)

Okay, back to the party...The first activity for the afternoon was decorating clown hats and this is a good picture of Clara with most of her guests (two of the girls were younger and a bit shy) and their hats after they played the games.
And here's the birthday girl blowing out her candles! Happy Birthday Clara!

Looks like a fun time. But could I get some analysis from the peanut race? That had to have been the most exciting part of the partay.

Happy Birthday Clara! What a fun party. They look so cute with the red noses and hats. Great job on the cake!

Clara and her friends are growing into beautiful young ladies! The clown cake is clever and the clown hats and noses---now that is fun! Six years of total joy, that's what this gramma and grampa have to thank Clara for giving to us. ( LOVE the floor, really! Andy, you are turning into quite a home improvement guru!) xoxo
