This week Abigail began Pre-K on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, from 8-11. Hannah is in the 2's class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Leading up to the big first day, we had a parents meeting that featured an hour of talking from the preschool director. Andy said that she clearly spends too much time with preschoolers, since she gave very basic instructions. On everything! One week later was an open house or "Meet the Teacher" night when the girls got to see their classrooms for the first time, and meet a few other kids in their class. Happily, Abigail already knows several of the other children in her class and her overwhelming excitement has not faded one bit! When asked whether she likes preschool she replies simply, "Love it. It is SO much fun!" Hannah had a moment of sadness at dropoff on the first day, but on day two when Abigail stayed and she didn't, Hannah was bummed. So on Thursday, Polk said she marched in the door, holding nothing back! Hannah has made a couple of friends that she talks about, Sammie and Hailey. We don't think they're imaginary.
The girls are learning, singing, praying and playing outside and in their classrooms. I would absolutely love to be a fly on the wall to see what goes on there! From what they tell me, it sounds like they are fully engaged the whole time they are there.
Hannah loves her backpack so much that she wore it out to feed the horses a couple of evenings this week! Also notable, when given the choice between pink and black (the only two colors we found at Walmart, in the smaller size), she chose black. Funny, I think. And out on the porch, Hannah is looking to Abigail for guidance. They were encouraged to take a special item on the first day, just in case they needed a comfort item. Hannah wanted to take her cupcake blanket, instead of the much more portable "doggie." There was no way that blanket would fit in her backpack. Um, sorry, it's a "packpack."

They look so cute with their backpacks on! I'm so glad that everything went well.
Since I know nothing about pre-school, this is a real learning experience for me too. I am so impressed with the academic aspect of the pre-kindergarten class. She plays school in the afternoon and it is apparent she is learning so many things just being in the classroom atmosphere. She is probably the most compliant student they have!!
Sooo cute!!! Love those girls:0)
