The Merry 'Ol Land of Oz!

The all important trophy! As a sweet big sister, she handed last year's trophy down to Hannah.

Aunt Evelyn came! So did Great Grandma Aggie, Grandma Sharon, Polk, Pops, and several friends, who had family members performing. In the audience were Hannah's Sunday school teacher, and "Campbell."

Proud Daddy!

Well, at long last...Blogger technical issues can't stand in my way! Here is Abigail's dance recital for this year, she is third to the right of the boy in the top hat:

This year, as you'll immediately see, Abigail took a tap class. She loved it! Especially at the beginning of the school year, she was so excited for class every week. All year I've been a little watchful about her shoes fitting correctly, because of her foot/orthopedic history. About two months ago I asked if her shoes still felt okay and she said they were fine. But, as warm weather arrived and there were other fun things to do at home, her enthusiasm for the class waned some. She stuck it out and looked great for her recital, though! Most importantly, she really did learn a lot of steps this year and got pretty good at them, even though she skipped a fair amount of them during the recital!

On the way to the recital though, Abigail announced to Andy and me that she didn't want to take a dance class next year.

Wait a minute! Is this the same little girl who has looked forward to Monday dance classes for the past three years? Surely she was just ready for a summer break. The recital went on and immediately after it was over, she asked to take her shoes off. And revealed a blister on the big toe of her right (the larger) foot! Poor girl! So we had a brief chat about being sure to let us know if her shoes are uncomfortable from now on. And I'm sure wearing them for four hours or so in one day probably didn't help.

Later on that evening, Abigail was once again feeling excited about dance. Except next year, she has specified that she'd like to take a barefoot class!

Looks great, Abbs! Where is the trophy displayed?

The trophies are both currently on the mantle, along with a racing trophy that went with our VBS theme. I'd look for all of that to change next month when a certain 6th birthday is approaching!

Beautiful job, Abigail! You look so nice in your costume! I just love dance recitals! Maybe the next time we visit we can watch the whole thing?! :)
