Fiat 500 test drive

On my day off from the Verizon store, I had a freelance assignment from the Gwinnett Daily Post. I wrote here about the new Fiat dealership in Buford, Ga., a Gwinnett County suburb of Atlanta, which features the new Fiat 500.

The general manager of the store offered me a test drive, so I took a convertible model out for a spin. It's only a two-door with 101 horsepower, so it's a big transition from the Silverado, or even the Sonata. But it's marketed as a "third car" for affluent families who don't want to take a big S.U.V. on errand trips around town. Or for a young professional looking for a fuel efficient commuter car. For an Italian car, it's fairly cheap at $16,000.

But it's a bit small for my taste. If they come out with a four-door model, it might be worth another look.

It is a really cute car but doesn't seem very practical except for the economy. Doesn't look like you could even fit a laptop in there with you!

Looks like fun for a little carefree drive. You could probably do a lot in that car--pick up a letter at the Post Office, buy a grocery...you could take Earl to the Vet if he could keep his head out the top! A laptop might fit if it didn't have too many documents saved.

To be fair, though, it sure is a lot of fun to make fun of. And we'll probably all be driving one soon.

Those cars are cute as a button but I can't imagine how you fit in it! Hope it was fun :-)
