New Family Life Center Up & Running

Here are some pictures of our church's new Family Life Center! The building was completed at the end of May and we began using it in mid-June for VBS. It has a half-court gym, fellowship hall, large kitchen & pantry, bathrooms and 5 Sunday school classrooms as well as lots of extra storage space.

The Saturday after our KY Lake trip, there was a dedication service with about 120 people in attendance. Andy spoke about the purpose for the building by comparing the building process with the new birth & growth that we experience as Christians (i.e. tearing down/leaving the old life behind, laying the foundation/beginning our new life with Christ as the cornerstone, building upwards/becoming a light shining for Christ, and inspection/the continual self-examination that we must do to continue growing in our faith). The evening's entertainment was given by Jess Dickinson, a former Charleston resident and current Mississippi Supreme Court Justice. He played the hammer dulcimer and keyboard and his wife sang along with him. We also enjoyed a slide show with over 600 pictures of the history of our church.

It is such a blessing to have this facility! Church life is much easier now that there is room for all of us and for all the activities that happen throughout the week.
